Today, the ventilated façade is a popular solution for cladding
buildings and structures of all kinds. It is chosen primarily because of its longevity and excellent
performance properties: these are the reasons for the popularity of this engineering solution, which
has only been gaining momentum over the years.
But to decide whether a
particular building or structure needs a curtain-type ventilated facade, it is necessary to approach
the issue comprehensively and consider several important characteristics of the system,
including:
- Technical characteristics (i.e., load-bearing capacity of the walls, fire
and thermal insulation requirements of the façade, etc.)
- architectural (including the
external features of the ventfasade, its aesthetic properties, as well as
functionality);
- financial costs - a point that often stands at the head of the decision and
has the greatest impact on it.
The requirements for ventilated
facades
Sets of products and materials for the device of curtain wall systems
with ventilated air gap are subject to technical evaluation of suitability in accordance with
Technical Regulations Tr2009/013/BY "Buildings and Structures, Building Materials and Products.
Safety".
The system is assessed as a whole, i.e. the structural solution for the
substructure, insulation and cladding, taking into account the requirements for each constituent
element.
LLC "Decent" is a developer of ventfasade systems. The system "FPS-1" - is the
developed technical solutions for ventfasades on the device zinc-coated substructure facing
cassettes of steel, aluminum, aluminum or steel composite panels, lamellas and profiled
sheet.
The system "FPS-2" - developed technical solutions ventfasada with cladding from
ceramic granite and fiber cement.
Pros and cons of the technology of ventilated
facade
The following points can be attributed to the advantages of this
facade solution:
- Maintenance without repair - over time, the ventilated facade does
not lose its initial physical and mechanical characteristics: it does not crack under the influence
of low temperatures, does not burn out under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, does not
require annual repairs, easy to operate and durable;
- the possibility to embody any design
and architectural solutions - the technology of a ventilated facade is quite flexible in terms of
choice of materials for cladding, size and shape of the facade panels;
- all-year-round
installation - owing to the absence of "wet" processes in the process of installation, ventfasades
can be mounted at any time of the year;
- high indicators of thermal insulation and
load-bearing capacity.
The disadvantages include:
- high price - ventfasades
systems are more expensive than, for example, plaster insulation systems: the reason is that high
requirements are imposed on all components of ventfasades, because the reliability of the entire
system depends on it;
- Significant weight of the structure - one of the important factors
affecting the longevity of the ventilated facade system is the load on the walls, which depends on
the weight of the cladding. It is necessary to take into account the parameters of each specific
building and if necessary to select the cladding material with less weight or design of the system
with mounting only in the monolithic belts.
